Frozen Parathas

Making Sehri in Ramzan can be a pretty tough job at times. Specially when it comes in the summer. Many members requested us to share the recipe for storing Parathay beforehand.

  1. Add salt, sugar, dry milk powder, oil to atta and knead it well with milk in to a soft dough
  2. Let the dough rest for 25 to 30 Minutes. Meanwhile prepare ghee mixture by beating 2 Tablespoon of maida into 1/2 cup of ghee
  3. You have two options, either roll out entire dough, spread ghee mixture over it, roll it and divide into your desired portions. Shape them in dough balls. Use ghee mixture for rolling out the dough

  5. OR you can divide the dough into portion, roll out each portion and spread ghee mixture over it.
  6. Fold it or roll it into a dough balls
  7. Let the dough balls rest in refrigerator for half an hour
  8. Heat the tawa (skillet) on low heat.
  9. Grease the rolling surface with ghee mixture and roll out the dough balls into parathas.
  10. Place the paratha on tawa for few seconds till the side is a bit firm. Flip the side and keep it for one or two seconds,
  11. Transfer on a plastic wrap or sheet.
  12. Similarly follow steps for other dough balls and stack them with plastic wrap or sheet in between each. This will help in separating parathas after freezing
  13. Freeze the parathas OR you can cook them straight away
  14. At the time of cooking, take out parathas, heat some ghee or oil in tawa and place the frozen paratha on it. First cook on medium heat so that parathas are well cooked from inside
  15. Cook both sides till golden
