For Marzipan Topping
For Cake ( for 9 X 5 " = 1 pound )
For Sticking the Cake
  • Jam As required Or use the following ingredients combined
  • 100 ml Cream
  • 2 Tablespoon Sugar Finely Ground
  • 1 Tablespoon Coco Powder
For Marzipan
  1. Boil and peel the almonds and dry them and chop them roughly so that it is easy to grind them
  2. Grind the almonds in small portions adding powder sugar in portion along with it so that both are grind properly and they become little moist
  3. Add honey to the mixture and mix working with your fingers.
  4. Add salt, coco powder and lemon juice, knead it well so that it form a hard dough. Use little more honey if needed for kneading. You can also grease your hands with butter
  5. When it is done, wrap it in plastic sheet. Refrigerate for few hours
For making cake
  1. Sieve flower well, add baking powder and salt to it
  2. Separate eggs and beat egg whites
  3. Beat butter, sugar together, add egg yolks and beat well
  4. Add flour mixture in portions and beat. Add vanilla essence
  5. Fold egg whites in this mixture well
  6. Divide the mixture into two equal portions by measuring cups. It will be little more than two cups Approximately.
  7. Add coco powder + milk to one portion and red color to the other.
  8. If you have two equal Pans then you can bake at a time other wise prepare the pan by greased paper. Pour chocolate mixture in it, bake it pre- heated oven over 180 degrees for 20 minutes or till it is done
  9. Take out prepared cake from the pan and line it again with greased paper and pour the pink mixture and bake it for 20 minutes over 180 degrees. Let both the cakes cool
  10. Place them one over other as shown in picture. You can use Jam or any filling between them, e.g cream beaten with sugar and coco powder
  11. Press them lightly so that they are attached to each other
  12. Cut them in half length wise as shown in picture
  13. Flip one of the half as shown in picture
  14. With the help of filling or Jam attach them as shown in picture
  15. Take out the prepared marzipan and roll it between two plastic sheets in a rectangle shape. Size should be such that the cake can easily be wrapped by it
  16. Take of the upper plastic sheet and place the cake over it in the middle
  17. Flip both sides over the cake with the help of plastic as shown in pictures
  18. Shape the cake by pressing with your hands so that cake portions are merged well together.
  19. Flip the cake over serving plate so that the seamed side is at the bottom
  20. Take off the plastic sheet
